Volunteer

The Aero Space Museum is fortunate to have a strong group of volunteers who offer their immeasurable skills and talents to the museum on a daily basis. In 2006, our volunteers contributed over 19,000 hours to the museum.

If you are interested in joining our fun and dynamic team, please review the following current volunteer opportunities.

Visitor Services Host (Currently Recruiting)

Working in the gift shop and front administration area, Visitor Services Hosts provide prompt and courteous customer service to all our customers and guests. Morning and afternoon positions are open seven days a week. Shifts are a minimum of four hours.

Educational Tour Guide (Currently Recruiting)

Volunteers teach curriculum based educational programs to our school aged visitors. Position is open seven days a week. Shifts run the length of the pre-booked tour and can take place in the morning, afternoon or evening.

Interpretive Tour Guide (Currently Recruiting)

The Interpretive Tour Guide, is the friendly face responsible for greeting visitors on the museum hangar floor, demonstrating various hands-on activities and leading impromptu and previously booked guided tours. Morning and afternoon positions are open seven days a week. Shifts are a minimum of four hours.

Special Events

The Special Events Volunteers participate in the execution of the museums activities. Areas of opportunities include: off-site promotion, Aviation Days, Fund Raising Activities, Space Day and other events. This person is friendly, out-going and energetic. Shifts are based on the event.

Air Craft Restoration

The Air Craft Restoration Volunteers primary responsibilities fall under the restoration and maintenance of the museums Aircraft and aviation related machinery. Working in a team environment, volunteers take on a variety of restoration tasks through-out the museum. Candidates with AME certification or previous aircraft restoration experience will be given priority. Currently this position takes place Monday to Thursday, 9 am to 3 pm.

Hangar Maintenance (Currently Recruiting)

The Hangar Maintenance Volunteers primary responsibilities fall under the maintenance of the museum and its grounds. Working independently, or in a team environment, volunteers take on a variety of maintenance tasks through-out the museum. Shifts are 7 days a week, for a minimum of 3 hours.

The Curatorial Volunteer

The Curatorial Volunteer works in partnership with the Curator to care for the museum's collections and archives. Research projects and exhibit development also fall under the duties of the Curatorial Volunteer. Shifts are Monday to Friday, for a minimum of 3 hours.

Special Projects (Currently Recruiting)

The Special Projects Volunteer participates in the successful execution of museum activities. Areas of opportunities include, but are not limited to: off-site and on-site promotion, Aviation Days, Fund Raising Activities, Raffle, Neil J. Armstrong Awards Dinner, Space Day, and other events. The persons well suited to this position are organized, friendly, outgoing and energetic. This position will suit individuals who want a set start and end date for their volunteer opportunity.
